Answering service for Georgia contractors

For Georgia HVAC, plumbing, electrical and roofing businesses: an assistant that handles a climate with as many hot days as freezing nights, for trades firms that are mostly very small.

Written by Christopher Gillig, who files the carrier registrations behind these numbers and configures the assistants. Last reviewed October 6, 2026.

The short answer

Georgia's contractors are mostly small, its roofers especially, and its climate gives HVAC firms two busy seasons instead of one. An answering service that suits that answers while the owner is on the job, recognises both no heat and no AC as urgent, and books inspections and repairs into free time on the calendar. The assistant here does those things and texts anyone it misses. Georgia is a one-party state, and the assistant announces its notes anyway.

What is different about Georgia

  • Atlanta averages 36 days a year at 90°F or above and 36 nights at or below freezing, on the 1991 to 2020 normals. Few big cities are that even. A Georgia HVAC company gets a summer rush and a winter rush of similar size, and the configuration treats no ac and no heat as equally urgent.
  • Georgia roofing establishments average under six staff, the smallest of the ten largest states, and 86 percent have fewer than ten. Most Georgia roofers are an owner and a crew, which is exactly the business that cannot answer the phone from a roof.
  • Georgia is a one-party consent state under O.C.G.A. section 16-11-66. The assistant records no audio regardless and opens with its disclosure, because the same greeting runs in every state.
  • Georgia electrical shops average about 13 staff, larger than its plumbing and HVAC shops. Bigger electrical firms tend to staff an office, so the case for the assistant there is the hours the office is closed.

A leak in Marietta, step by step

  1. A homeowner in Marietta calls a two-person roofing company about a leak after a spring thunderstorm. Both are on a roof across town.
  2. The assistant answers, gives its disclosure, and asks who is calling and what happened.
  3. The caller says leaking and water coming in, both emergency words in the roofing list, and the lead is raised.
  4. It takes the property address, reads it back, and books an inspection in the next free slot if inspections are bookable.
  5. The owner sees the lead when they climb down, with the address and the caller's description already on it.

What a Georgia caller receives

missed call textback

This is Cedarline Roofing, sorry we missed your call. What is going on, and where are you? Reply here, or BOOK to book.

For a two-person crew, this is the receptionist. The reply usually says leak or storm, which is enough to decide whether the next stop is today.

emergency ack

Hi Dana, Northgate Heating has your message and is treating it as urgent. If this is a gas leak or emergency, call 911.

With a winter as real as Georgia's, no heat calls come in alongside the summer ones. This goes out for either, and adds the gas line because furnaces here are usually gas.

Questions Georgia owners ask

I am a one-truck operation. Is this overkill?
It is built for that size. The point is that the person who would answer is the person doing the work, and we do the setup ourselves, so there is nothing for you to configure between jobs.
Can it handle heat pump calls in winter?
It matches what the caller says rather than the equipment. No heat is an emergency whether the system is a heat pump or a furnace, and not working is raised one level down.
Will callers know it is not a person?
Yes, immediately. Its first sentence says it is an AI assistant that takes notes, and it says so again if asked.
